The premium lantern art exhibition zone at Bailuzhou Park in Nanjing officially lit up on the evening of December 26, ushering in the festive spirit of the 2026 New Year and setting the stage for the upcoming Qinhuai Lantern Festival, which marks its 40th edition.
Blending traditional lantern craftsmanship with the rich cultural heritage of the Jiangnan region, the special exhibition presents a vivid celebration of New Year customs and the vibrant zodiac culture of the Year of the Horse. The display reflects the poetic charm of Jiangnan, famed for its waterways, classical aesthetics, and artistic traditions.
Visitors can explore seven carefully curated thematic zones featuring a total of 48 immersive lantern scenes. Together, they create a distinctive “Qinhuai artistic concept,” evoking the dreamlike ambiance of Nanjing’s historic Qinhuai River area. As visitors stroll through the park, each turn reveals a new visual spectacle, transforming the exhibition into a journey of discovery and cultural storytelling.
More than a dazzling light display, this year’s exhibition serves as a cultural showcase that bridges history and modern creativity. By preserving time-honored artistic techniques while incorporating contemporary design elements, the lantern exhibition highlights Nanjing’s deep cultural roots and its dynamic approach to heritage innovation, offering residents and tourists alike a festive and enriching experience.
