BEIJING, Dec 31: China has expressed its readiness to work closely with Pakistan during the upcoming visit of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, with the aim of advancing the important common understandings reached by the leadership of the two countries and further strengthening bilateral relations.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian made these remarks during his regular press briefing on Tuesday, while responding to a question about the visit.
He said the visit would help enhance strategic communication and coordination between China and Pakistan, deepen exchanges and cooperation across various fields, and facilitate a series of commemorative activities. These efforts, he added, would accelerate the building of an even closer China–Pakistan community with a shared future in the new era.
Lin noted that 2026 will mark the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Pakistan, and the forthcoming visit will formally kick off celebrations to mark the milestone.
Describing the two countries as “ironclad friends” and all-weather strategic cooperative partners, the spokesperson said China and Pakistan have maintained close high-level exchanges over the years, underpinned by solid political mutual trust. He added that practical cooperation has continued to deepen and expand, contributing to the sustained and robust development of bilateral relations.
At the invitation of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Dar will visit China from January 3 to 5, during which he will co-chair the Seventh Round of the China–Pakistan Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue.
The dialogue is regarded as the highest-level consultative mechanism between the two sides and is expected to review the full spectrum of bilateral relations, while setting the direction for future cooperation as the two countries approach a landmark anniversary in their longstanding partnership.
