ISLAMABAD (Web Desk): Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari on Tuesday visited the hometown of Chairman Mao Zedong, where he laid a wreath at the leader’s statue in Statue Square and paid tribute to China’s revolutionary figure, according to the President’s Secretariat Media Wing.
He was received by senior local officials, including Li Jiyang of the Xiangtan People’s Congress and Zhang Xihui, Director of the Shaoshan Administration Bureau, who briefed him on Mao’s early life and the influences that shaped his political thought.
The President was also briefed on the role of memorial institutions in preserving historical material and promoting public understanding of China’s revolutionary history, the statement said.
Following the ceremony, President Zardari visited the Mao Zedong Memorial Museum, where he viewed archival material and exhibits documenting key phases of China’s revolutionary journey.
Paying tribute, the President acknowledged Mao Zedong’s role in China’s transformation, unity and development, noting that preserving such historic sites offers insight into the forces that shaped modern China and highlights the importance of historical memory.
President Zardari on Sunday visited SANY Heavy Industry Co. Ltd. in Changsha, Hunan province, as a part of his visit to China, briefed by Chairman of Sany Group Tang Xiuguo on the company’s advanced manufacturing systems, reported APP.
President Zardari arrived in China shortly after midnight on Saturday for a multi-day visit focused on economic cooperation, trade, and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), according to his office statement.
The president landed in Changsha, where he was received by Hu Xusheng, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Hunan Provincial People’s Congress. Pakistan’s ambassador to China and China’s ambassador to Pakistan were also present on the occasion, the President’s Secretariat said.
The president visited SANY Heavy Industry Co. Ltd. in Changsha, Hunan province, where he was briefed by Sany Group Chairman Tang Xiuguo on the company’s advanced manufacturing systems, product lines, and ongoing investments in research and development.
