KP Governor calls for expanded China cooperation, highlights province’s mineral potential

Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi has underscored the importance of further strengthening bilateral cooperation with China across multiple sectors, with a particular focus on investment-led development.

Speaking to a delegation of the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) in Islamabad on Monday, the governor highlighted Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s vast and largely untapped mineral resources, noting that their systematic exploration and development are essential for national and provincial economic growth.

Governor Kundi said the provincial and federal governments welcome foreign investment—especially from Pakistan’s close partner China—in priority sectors, including mines and minerals, energy, and infrastructure. He emphasized that responsible investment in the minerals sector could significantly boost the provincial economy, generate revenue, and create employment opportunities for local communities.

The Chinese delegation, in turn, expressed strong interest in exploring investment opportunities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s mines and minerals sector. They conveyed their willingness to contribute to economic growth through modern exploration, value addition, and job creation in the province.

Both sides agreed to maintain close coordination to identify viable projects and advance practical cooperation, reaffirming their shared commitment to deepening Pakistan–China economic partnership.
